FIRB resolutions allow the sector to continue using work-from-home (WFH) arrangements while only preserving their tax benefits until the end of this month. One of the limitations is that the number of employees covered by a WFH arrangement cannot exceed 90 percent of the total workforce of the organization.
"The allowance of the 90:10 WFH set-up was just a temporary measure during the pandemic. Now that we're reopening the economy, we're going back to the regular ratio required of registered business enterprises inside the ecozones," PEZA Director General Charito Plaza emphasized.
While PEZA supports the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) proposal to implement a hybrid work scheme for the IT-BPO sector and recognizes the concerns of investors and their individual workers affected by the FIRB order, she stressed the importance of adhering to the law's regulations.
